Radio Kolor radio broadcasting on the 103 FM frequency. Radio Kolor broadcasting system is located on the spire of the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw. Initially, the station also broadcast on the frequency of 72.38 MHz. In 2011, the transmitter power was increased from 1.0 kW to 3.0 kW.
Radio Kolor was founded in 1993 by Krzysztof Materna and Wojciech Mann. The first song that appeared on the air of Kolor was "What a Wonderful World" performed by Louis Armstrong.
Despite the prevailing belief, Mann and Materna were not the pillars of the station for long. As Wojciech Mann himself admitted in the book RockMann, if I did not become a saxophonist, journalists adopted an unrealistic budget and fell into conflict with the main shareholders, which led to their departure from the station in the first year of the station's operation. In the following years, Mann and Materna got rid of their (small) shares in the station completely.
